Cardinia Community Food Strategy and Action Plan (2018–26)

From 2016 – 2022, Sustain collaborated with Cardinia Shire Council to develop and implement the Cardinia Community Food Strategy. This participatory process drew on the strengths of and built capacity of the community.

The project’s achievement highlights include recognition of Cardinia Food Circles with VicHealth’s ‘Promoting Healthy Eating Award’ in 2019 for outstanding efforts to improve community health, and the establishment of a number of local food projects including to the United African Farm, the Pakenham Community School Farm and the Cardinia Community Food Hub.

Sustain Team

Sustain is a “think and do” network, specialising in designing and building sustainable and healthy food systems. We work with governments, councils, and community leaders to help map local food systems, and develop evidence-based and achievable policies and programs. We sow the seeds of change with events, policy work, practice & thought leadership, capacity building, and collective action. We give people, councils, and organisations the tools they need to help them become empowered food citizens, supporting healthy communities, people and ecosystems.
