Australians are struggling with food insecurity and the Iran war is set to make it worse

Across Australia, more people are turning to food relief as everyday essentials become harder to afford. What was once a challenge for a smaller group is now affecting a much broader mix of households.

Speaking to ABC News, Nick highlighted how sustained cost-of-living pressures are driving this shift.

Global tensions are likely to make things worse. Increased fuel and supply costs linked to conflict overseas are expected to flow through to grocery prices, putting additional strain on already stretched budgets.

The growing demand for support signals a deeper, structural problem — one that requires more than short-term relief to address.
